Small Fry Dance Club – A Peninsula Institution

Small Fry Dance Club was founded in 2007 by husband and wife team, Jana & Carlos Chapeton. The program started solely as an on-site extra curricular program in Bay Area Preschool. Over time as the program grew in size and scope, it became clear that there was enough demand to start public classes apart from the preschool setting.

In 2010 we opened our original location in Foster City, CA. It was a great location that allowed us to learn how we wanted to grow the program and the direction we wanted it to move in. In 2013 we knew it was time to expand from just preschool age dancers to older levels.

After an exhaustive search we finally moved to our current location in San Mateo, Ca. It’s a gorgeous 4000 square foot space with three dance studios. The new location allowed to start the Principal Art program (www.principalarts.com) and we can now teach kids from 18 month up to 18 years!

2017 will mark our 10 year anniversary. We would like to thank all of you for your support. WIthout our family, friends, and loyal fans we would not be here today. Special thanks to former San Francisco Giant, Pedro Feliz for helping us open our new location in San Mateo. We will have to throw a big party and we can’t wait to celebrate with all of you.

Mission Statement

Small Fry Dance Club’s mission is to instill a love of dance in children, their family, and their community. Each dancer will be challenged to strengthen their body awareness, spatial awareness, flexibility, balance, creativity, movement technique, and appreciation of the performing and creative arts. We want dancers to crave movement for physical fitness, artistic outlet, and even emotional comfort. Our goal is to provide age-appropriate movement classes and performance opportunities for toddlers, preschoolers, and school age children. No matter the degree of each child’s dance goals, discovering movement should be nothing but empowering. Dance starts here!
