Frequently Asked Questions

SETUP A DEMO DAY

What types of classes do you teach?

Music & Movement
Music & Movement, our introductory class, is designed for walking toddlers. This class is focused on exposure. Weekly exercises  include warm-up, creative movement, an obstacle course, and exploration. Our new Music & Movement curriculum, defined and developed by Rosemary Robertson is called, BodyLanguage©. At this age, children are learning to express themselves verbally; our goal is to expand their physical vocabulary as well.

Dance & Performance
Dance & Performance is a survey style class designed for preschool age dancers. Weekly lesson plans include The Brain Dance, MotorMuscles© themes, creative movement, meditation, and our performance curriculum. Dancers enrolled in our Dance & Performance classes are eligible to participate in our bi-annual company performances.

Do you offer classes for school age children?

Yes. Our program for older children is called SFDC Level Up. Level up classes are great for school age dancers and are designed for after school and physical education programs. Level up classes focus on one style of dance per class. Disciplines that our teachers specialize in are hip hop, ballet, jazz, musical theatre, creative dance, composition, and modern.

What qualifications do your teachers have?

All of our teachers have an extensive background in dance and working with young children. Many of our teachers have both a dance degree and some level of ECE units in their educational experience. We pride ourselves on being very selective in our hiring process and only select highly qualified teachers.

When do class run?

Our classes run year round. We do not run sessions. At a few schools there are summer/winter breaks that we can work around. We do close the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.

Are your teachers background checked?

All of our teachers are background checked using Live Scan. We do both a Department of Justice and an FBI background check. You can do a request for transfer to associate them with your school. All of our teachers are also tested for TB before they begin teaching with us.

How do you manage classes?

Parent's Sign Up
In most cases the classes are an optional extra curricular for kids. Using this method the parents sign up through our website and we manage the individual accounts. Monthly tuition is based on the length of each class. Classes meet once per week. In larger preschools we may come on more than one day per week if there is enough interest.

School covers fee to participate
At a few locations the schools have opted to pay to have everyone participate. We can accommodate that request if needed. We just have a few requirements in order to be able to setup classes. Please call our office to discuss the details if this is how you would like to setup classes for your school. 650-393-5593.
